1. Muscle Relaxant
For eyebrows, eyelids, wrinkles, headaches & jaw clenching.

With Skinovate, you can rest assured we have the most advanced Muscle Relaxant technology. In a simple, non-surgical treatment that lasts no longer than 10 minutes, even the toughest wrinkles will be reduced within days.

The treatment works by relaxing muscle contractions, after which the overlying skin becomes smoother and less wrinkled. The effect of frowns and smiles line are dramatically reduced, as the movement of the muscles is restricted.

The treatment lasts four months or more – and will leave you with a look and feel that you’ll love.

FAQs about Muscle Relaxant
(Click on a question to show the answer)
What Is Muscle Relaxant?
Muscle Relaxant is a natural non-animal purified protein that relaxes muscle contractions where it is placed. Muscle Relaxant contains a minute amount of human donor derived albumin, similar to many commonly used vaccines, and is produced under strict regulatory control.

Are Muscle Relaxant Treatments Safe?
Yes! Each year hundreds of thousands of patients receive Muscle Relaxant treatments in over 70 countries around the world, for a variety of conditions. Over the last twelve years it has become the most popular treatment performed for improving the appearance of facial wrinkles.

We do not treat clients who are pregnant or trying to become pregnant as the risks are unknown.

Are There Any Side Effects?
Tiny pinprick marks or a small bruise can occur occasionally, but these can be immediately covered with makeup. In rare cases, there is a temporary heaviness of the eyelid, but this can be reversed with Albalon type eye drops. Patients with Myasthenia may not be treated. In extremely rare case, temporary blurred vision has been reported (but not at all in our clinics).

Why Is It Used?
Muscle Relaxant will relax the muscles (mainly around the eyes or the forehead) to soften or remove the wrinkles, giving you a fresher, relaxed and rested appearance. In some cases the muscles can be “frozen” so they don’t move, however this is not always desirable because we want to reduce the wrinkles but keep you looking natural.

How Is The Treatment Applied?
Muscle Relaxant treatments are simple, fast and safe. Ten minutes is all it takes. Using a tiny needle, a very small amount of clear Muscle Relaxant is placed, very precisely, into selected muscles. A strong numbing cream can be used to ensure there is no discomfort and patients are able to resume normal activities immediately after treatment.

What Results Should I Expect?
Muscle Relaxant will give you a more youthful appearance, looking and feeling your best (the treatment can take 12 days to reach full effect, so be patient). You will be able to smile, laugh and move the face normally, except wrinkles will be much reduced on treatment areas. Results can vary from patient to patient. Our Doctor will suggest an appropriate dose for you, but you do have the choice of requesting further treatment, at extra cost.

How Long Will Muscle Relaxant Last?
The effects usually last for 4 months around the eyes and 5-6 months in the forehead. Continued Muscle Relaxant treatment will actually smooth out wrinkles that are deep, as the collagen is remodelled under the skin, giving longer lasting results.

What Should I Do After Treatment?
  • Avoid exercise for 3 hours.
  • Remain upright and avoid sleeping for 3 hours.
  • Take Paracetamol for headache or pain (NOT Aspirin or Nurofen on the day).
  • Do not massage the area treated at all.
  • Use mild pressure for any pinpoint bleeding.
  • Frown and exercise your facial muscles for the first hour, regularly.
  • 1-2 standard alcoholic drinks are fine after the injections.
  • Return for another treatment when you notice significant movement but before full motion returns.

2. Dermal Filling Gels
For lips, wrinkles, scars and folds.

Dermal Filling Gels are non-animal, natural substances (hyaluronic acids) that exist as structural elements already in your skin. They work by pushing up under the wrinkle or scar, thereby restoring a smoother, flatter skin contour - or plumping the lips to the desired degree. The gels are naturally integrated into the skin and will in time re-absorb.

Gels can be permanent or non-permanent, depending on your needs. Typical wrinkle improvement is between 40% and 80%.

Dermal Filling Gels can be used to treat:
  • acne scars
  • wrinkles
  • depressions or pockmarks
  • chickenpox marks
  • unevenness in the skin after surgery or skin grafting
  • sunken or depressed scars caused by injury
  • deep smile lines
  • deep neck lines
  • ‘crows feet' (at the corner of the eyes)
  • 'frown lines' (between the eyebrows)
  • 'smokers lines' (vertical lines on the top lip)
  • 'marionette lines' (at the corner of the mouth)
  • 'worry lines' (across the forehead)
  • the definition of the lip border
  • other facial lines

FAQs about Dermal Filling Gels
(Click on a questio n to show the answer)
How Long Do They Last?
Dermal Filling Gels will last for over 1 year in fine lines, 2 years in acne scars, 12 months in the lip borders and 3-5 months in the pink areas of the lip. The thicker versions available last approx 14-16 months in the lip borders, 8-10 months in pink part of the lips, 18-24 months in the deeper folds and over 2 years in acne scars.

What Precautions Should Be Taken?
Dermal Filling Gels should not be used on or near sites of active skin disease or infection and must be administered by, or under the supervision of, a nurse or doctor specifically trained in its use.

The area treated should not be exposed to extreme heat (e.g. solarium or sunbathing) or extreme cold until the initial swelling and redness has resolved. Exercise on the day of treatment is not recommended.

How Are The Treatments Administered?
It is a simple procedure, carried out in our consulting rooms. A fine disposable sterile needle is used to inject the gel. Treatment usually takes about 30 minutes. Lip treatments are almost painless due to a local anaesthetic block. For other areas, your therapist may recommend a local anaesthetic injection or cream to minimise discomfort (in which case you may be asked to arrive 20 mins early to allow time for numbing cream to take effect).

After your first treatment, the therapist will want to see you again in two to three weeks to assess your results and possibly put final touches on the treatment.

For wrinkles, think of it as a two-part process, with the final touches being performed at the review appointment (often, 20 percent more improvement can be achieved at this time).

What Are The Side Effects?
Dermal Filling Gels will not stretch your skin out of its natural shape.

After the treatment, some common injection-related reactions may occur:

  • Redness: 12-24 hrs
  • Puffiness: 12-36 hrs
  • Discolouration: fine and fair-skinned patients may see a greyish line through the skin at the implant site, especially if the skin is stretched.
  • Bruising: Uncommon, but can be up to 4days (coverable by make-up)
  • Pimple/Small Blister: Only 1 in every 25 cases.
  • Lumpiness: Very rare. Lumps can be massaged to reduce their size.
  • Cold Sores: Occasionally, if the patient is susceptible to them.
  • Allergy reactions: Thought to be of a hypersensitivity nature, occurring in 1 in 2000 patients. Consisting of swelling and firmness at the implant site, sometimes affecting surrounding tissues. Redness, tenderness and rarely Acne-form papules or blisters may also occur. Described as mild to moderate, with an average duration of 2 weeks (treatments are available for the adverse events).
