IPL and Photo Therapy in Melbourne
Backed by 10 years of experience in the cosmetic industry, Skinovate in Melbourne is able to provide our clients with IPL and photo therapy treatments that come with unmatched expertise and years of know-how.
How does IPL and photo therapy work?
Whether for pigment spots, broken capillaries, blemishes or open pores, IPL and photo therapy treatments work by flashing a high-powered, red-green light over the skin, where it is preferentially absorbed by its target – problem cells.
The light energy converts to heat inside the capillary or pigment, and this focussed heat then shuts down broken capillaries and shrivels up the pigment, which the body will reject a week later.
What are the side effects of IPL and photo therapy?
Broken capillaries, small veins, pigmentation and age spots will be dramatically reduced 1-2 weeks after the treatment. They may darken temporarily while healing.
Fortunately for our clients, our experience allows us to provide our Melbourne clients with an extremely high level of care. The vast majority of IPL and photo therapy treatments involve some redness afterwards, and that is all.
Our strict training, treatment and after-care protocols mean that the risks and side effects of our IPL and photo therapy treatments are kept to a minimum. Should any side effects occur, we also have the experience to treat you quickly and effectively.
Normally pigment spots will go twice as dark temporarily after the treatment before they fall off or lighten in 7 days (face) or 14 days (body). In the meantime, we advise that our Melbourne clients cover those spots with makeup or a cover stick.
Broken capillaries and small veins around the nose will either shut down immediately at the time of treatment, or become a little darker for a week until they fade away.
We also provide all of our clients in Melbourne with a detailed after-care sheet that explains what to do in the event of any of these side effects occurring.
The side effects of laser therapy are usually worse in dark, tanned or Asian skin, although pale skin can also overreact to treatment. The machines that we use can be fully adjusted to suit your skin, and it is important that our Melbourne clients follow our advice.
Do IPL and photo therapy treatments hurt?
The laser stings at the time of treatment. To help with this, please arrive 15-20 minutes before your appointment and ask reception for some numbing cream. We have the strongest numbing cream in Melbourne to keep you comfortable, and we also use ice packs during our IPL and photo therapy treatments for your comfort.
